Never before could the crossfader tension be adjusted as freely as with the 45mm VCA Flex Fader. What’s cool about the Denon DJ Mixer is that you don’t have to have each input “set in stone” for any one given channel; you can mix and match channels, pairing them up with devices, and even letting one input unit supply multiple channels (there are eight of them) simultaneously. The Japanese-based DJ company Pioneer recently released a new mixer that’s out there, getting professional producers and DJs excited. The brand new Pioneer CDJ-900 Professional Multi Player is finally on the market. Just getting it out of the box, you can see Pioneer’s 70 years of experience packed inside a prodigy tabletop player. American DJ Lighting: Galaxian 3D Laser vs. Emerald Beam Green Laser

American DJ Lighting has been in business since 1997. They provide a large array of party goodies, from dimmer controls to elaborate lighting systems. Their name is big in the DJ industry – American DJ brand items are seen at trade shows all across the United States, as well as in Germany, UK, and other countries. This analysis will compare two of their laser lighting systems that are competitively priced, and offer different effects: the Galaxian 3D Laser Lights, and the Emerald Beam Green Laser Lighting.

American DJ Galaxian 3D Laser Lighting

This system features rotating green laser beams (30mW) and red laser beams (80mW) that rock back and forth for an exciting aerial display. It’s perfect for projecting onto a dance floor, or on a wall in any club with enough space for an awesome show. The American DJ Galaxian 3D Laser can project the Solar System effect on any surface. You don’t even need a fog machine for this laser show to look decent like with other laser systems. Good news for professional DJs who own two or three of these units: you can link them up for a gorgeous shower effect of red and green laser beams. If you’re a proud tree hugger, listen up: the American DJ Galaxian 3D Laser is very low on power consumption! It runs off 23 watts of power (115 volts) which is pretty impressive when you consider the quality of the output. You can switch the voltage on the back to control the frequency (choose between 60Hz at 115V or 50Hz at 230V). The American DJ Galaxian 3D Laser is very compact: it’s 10” by 10” by 3” – portable enough for small to mid size DJing events; you can control the beam angle from 0 to 107 degrees in 1.8-degree steps. This setup comes with an LCD display with an easy-to-navigate menu.

Without a doubt, this would be a great addition for DJs who want to expand their collection of lasers for an exciting display. But how does the American DJ Galaxian 3D Laser compare to other laser systems?

American DJ Emerald Beam Green Laser

Unlike the system above, the Emerald Beam Green Laser comes with two hanging brackets instead of just one. This allows for more than one hanging position, so it’s almost like having 2 systems in one, for less. It’s shaped differently; the American DJ Emerald Beam Green Laser is 5” by 5” by 20”. You can set it up horizontally or vertically – whatever suits your venue better. It is slightly heavier, however: it weighs 11lbs (almost double the former). Still not bad at all. In comparison, the two units run on the same power. The laser output, however, is 4.9mW, compared to the former 30mW. Unfortunately, no red laser on this model.

What’s the main advantage of this lighting unit? You can program up to 16 sequences into the Emerald Beam! This system also pulsates the lasers to the beat of the music. That’s something the Galaxian doesn’t do. There are audio controls that let you change the sensitivity of the Emerald. With flat and solid beams of green, the created effect is your classic Euro disco green laser that “runs” across the crowd to the beat of the music.

The choice is yours: these two systems are priced differently, and provide slightly different effects. American DJ will never cease to impress DJs from all around the world with the quality of their products and services, so whether you choose the Galaxian 3D or the Emerald Beam Green Laser, you will not be disappointed.

NUMARK’s newest DJ mixer is a full-featured studio for on-the-go producers. It’s certainly a worthy upgrade over their previous model, the CD Mix-1 (the predecessor to the Numark CDMIX2 DJ Mixer). It features two CD players with fader start mode. As in all latest models, it comes with memory buffer to prevent CD skipping due to vibrations from the dance floor, bumping into the DJ booth or table, etc. The pitch bend wheel comes with 24% all-around pitch control; The track-programmable Numark CDMIX2 DJ Mixer allows continuous play through seamless looping. There are 3 external line inputs; you can hook it up to 2 microphones at the same time, and there are even 2 external phono inputs. Each channel has a separate equalizer control. Relay play allows you to switch from deck 1 to deck 2 without skipping a beat, and the crossfader is standard across all Numark DJ Mixer models. If you’ve ever used computer software like VirtualDJ and played around with songs, this is just like that, except hands-on! Perfect for live events or in-studio productions, because it’s small enough to fit just about anywhere.

The Numark CDMIX2 DJ Mixer comes with master RCA unbalanced and XLR balanced outputs. The 3-band equalizer for outputs on record is used with the master output. The headphone jacks are .125 and .25 inch dual sockets. The jog wheel goes around 32%, and this mixer also features 3 speeds for reverse and forward scanning. The search does 1/75 second steps, and the silent-space cut-off feature comes with automatic cues. One impressive feature of the Numark CDMIX2 DJ Mixer is the bright, LARGE LCD display. It comes with nine-segment LED signal meters that are extremely accurate and smooth. The LED’s are extremely bright and provide enough light to be seen even in a dark dungeon. Above each fader, all the channels can be easily allocated to the cue section that has a big and bright Cue button. This cue button can be used to cue a number of sources by pressing it simultaneously.

Now for the most brilliant feature in this model that puts it above the rest - the MIDI controller. The MIDI values can easily output from six different mixer controls. An additional advantage to it is the MIDI Clock. This MIDI Clock can synchronize different external programs to the beat of the Tap Tempo Button on your XONE: 92.

All in all, this DJ mixer is the future. It is for DJ’s looking to combine traditional methods with computer sequencing.
